BABY MASSAGE

(WITH any oil like Olive, Almond, Coconut etc.,)
Results:
1. Stimulates growth.
2. Increases immunity.
3. Regulates sleep.
4. Induces weight gain for premature babies.
5. Effective bonding techniques.

  •  Starts massaging only after 2 weeks from birth.
  • 3rd & 4th week massage with soft wheat dough ball mixed with little almond oil & turmeric.
  • Dip it in oil every now & then. Roll over her body gently.
  • Massage with your fingers only after the 1st month.
  • Check your finger nails & jewels
  • Rub your palms to warm before massage.
  • Be relax with positive thinking & playing soothing music.
  • Best time is between feed (neither full stomach nor hungry).
  • Avoid massaging the day before & after the vaccination.
  • Have eye-to-eye contact. Smile & keep talking with the baby expressively.
  • Switch off the fan.
  • 5 mins of massage is enough till 2 mons. Then can be done upto 20 mins or upto the comfort level of the child.
  • Massage baby when she is content & relaxed. Stop when she feels uncomfortable.
  • Don't leave the oil on the body for longer time.
  • Apply medium Pressure while massaging (close your eyes & press your eyeballs. this is the right pressure for massaging)
  • Do not break the strokes, continuity should be there. 
                       1. Fingertip pressure.
                       2. Gentle squeezing.
                       3. Finger rotation.
                       4. Toe rotation.
                       5. Stretching.
                       6. Passive movements & energy exchange.


BABY BATH

THINGS NEEDED

1. Two tubs with Luke warn water.
2. A mug.
3. 3 cotton balls.
4. Big towel, clean cloths & folded nappy.
5. Shower band.
6. Mild soap or soap liquid & shampoo or any mild herbal powder.


  • 10am - 11am is the right time for baby bath.
  • 5-10 mins bath is sufficient.
  • Place of bath should be warmer.
  • Take 2 tubs. Both of them should be half filled with boiled luke warm water.
  • Check the temperature of the water with your elbows.
  • Never top warm/cold water when the baby is in the tub.
  • Keep water till the baby's neck.
  • Wipe her eyes & private parts with cotton balls.
  • Use shower band for hair wash.
  • Use liquid talc or lotion.  

BABY SLEEP

1. For first 2 months the baby will sleep for 20-22 hrs a day
2. Keep the room warm.
3. Play soothing music.
4. Install a dim night lamp
5.If she minates, change nappy immediately & keep her clean & fresh.


BABY WEIGHT GAIN
1. Reduce weight of 200gms in a day/two after birth.
2. Comes back to birth weight in 10 days.
3. Doubles in 5th month.
